Sound, Space and Religion

While living in downtown Toronto, I was captivated by the city’s soundscape and traced how ambient urban sounds intermingle with religious sound practices.

Through a creative methodology of producing “mixtapes” of Christianity recorded in public spaces, this long-term ethnographic project assembles layered sonic compositions drawn directly from the streets.

I contribute to broader questions about studying Christianity in urban contexts by focusing on how sounds claim particular spaces and seize bodies within them for a certain time.
